This is a huge Dendritic Agate OWL family carving. Shown next to a standard 12oz/355ml soda can for size comparison.
Carved from a single piece of stone! This precious family comes to life out of the Agate beautifully. Colors in the background are mainly blue-grey/-greys, with accents of golden yellow/orange, cream, a pretty pink-ish orange (mainly in/around the top), and super cool green MOSS AGATE areas throughout. Although they resemble plant-life, they are made up of green minerals such as Hornblende and Chlorite. See some of these in detail in a close-up photo. It also has some higher Quartz content areas with beautiful sparkles, and nice banding/stripes outlining them, in the top of the tree and both upper owls. Interesting VUGS are present here and there on both the front and back of the tree, too. Vugs are natural formations, sometimes also known as "crystal cave inclusions", and considered highly collectible.
Besides the aforementioned vugs, there may be small organic spots here and there from inclusions that were close to the surface as the stone was shaped. ALL areas present come from 100% natural formations in the stone.
It weighs about 7lbs 13.5oz (so just a bit under 8lbs) and measures about 8 3/8" inches tall by about 7 3/4" inches wide across the widest point (side to side) by around 3 3/4" inches deep. Code-020224-3783
