This is a beautiful Golden Obsidian crystal skull, sometimes called "Andara Obsidian"! It is a man-made stone. "Andara Obsidian" is a trade name for a type of man-made slag glass. For more info, see below.
Let me be clear to avoid any confusion. This is a created stone. I am not a geologist and I have to go on what they tell me. I pick by energy only. After someone expressed a concern, I've decided expand my descriptions even more. According to geologists I’ve talked to there are no ‘natural’ colored obsidians with bright, very clear, colors. There ARE natural obsidians with colored shimmer, colored impurities, and colored streaks (such as Rainbow Obsidian or Mahogany Obsidian). This specific stone is created by gathering volcanic ash and other soils, then superheating it. "Andara Obsidian" is a trade name for this type of man-made slag glass. The most famous man-made colored slag glass "obsidians" came from ash and soil collected after the eruption of Mt. St. Helens. According to multiple geologists I have spoken with at length, the colors in all colored obsidians (except for brown or black) come from trace metals in the material. There is always a variety of metal that is in the volcanic ash and other soils that they process to produce "Andara Obsidian" from. Because of the metals, it holds energy extremely well. "Andara Obsidian" is extremely collectible, as are other colored slags and they have been for thousands of years. This is a very controversial subject, but as I said, I am not an expert and can only pass on what I’ve been told by experts I have questioned at length.
Another unusual one - this is very hard to find this stone as a skull. It has a lovely golden yellow color with cool bubble inclusions, and some beautiful blue-ish/white-ish opalescence that becomes visible from different angles. It picks up different colors depending on the background it is on - dark vs. light.
It has a handful of pinprick tiny organic spots from little bubble inclusions that were close to the surface as the stone was polished. They can resemble little round indents/pinpricks or thin fine lines/linear indents. Including around the tip of the nose - among other places. Golden “Andara” Obsidian is also called Andara Stone or Andara Obsidian and some other names. It is associated with the Third Chakra, but can also be used to balance all the Chakras. It is said to assist in the self-healing of emotional wounds and traumas. It is associated with the element of Fire, and is also thought to assist in bringing great prosperity into one's life.
Native legends speak of crystal skulls as an inheritance from ancient times. Said to “talk and sing” they are believed to carry messages for all mankind, including what may be discovered when we overcome our fear of death.
