I'm thrilled to have a small batch of Dragon's Blood Jasper crystal skulls! Shown next to a US quarter coin for size comparison. You are receiving the exact skull pictured. It has lovely greens and vibrant accents of bright red with a bit of black/grey/white mixed in here and there. AKA Dragon’s Blood Stone, Dragon Stone, Dragonstone. It is sometimes identified as a variety of Bloodstone, which is incorrect. Bloodstone is an entirely different stone, and a member of the Chalcedony family. It is actually mainly composed of 2 colors of Epidote! The more common green, and a bright red variant that gets its coloring from a high Iron content. The patterns are quite intricate! It is much nicer 'in person' than photos can show - I guarantee it!
It has a handful of tiny organic spots here and there from inclusions that were close to the surface as the stone was polished. They can resemble pinpricks, shallow indents, or thin fine lines/linear indents on the surface of the stone. ALL inclusions present come from 100% natural formations in the crystal. "Dragon’s Blood Jasper" is the main trade name used for this stone, and the term is most used to search for this material.
It is also known by these trade names: Dragon's Blood, Dragon’s Bloodstone, Dragon's Blood Stone, Dragon Stone, Dragonstone and Dragon’s Blood Epidote, (which is a more accurate name for this stone, but less well known.)
Dragon's Blood Jasper is often identified as a variety of bloodstone. It is NOT; bloodstone is a form of chalcedony, and is an entirely different stone. The red coloration in the stone is NOT a form of Piemontite; it is a massive form of epidote.
The main minerals in this stone are Epidote (Green and Red), Iron, Sorosilicate, Aluminum, Calcium and Oxygen.
The term "Jasper" has become a generic, catch-all term, used for all kinds of unidentified stones that are not agate. Many stones that are known as Jaspers, as a trade name, are not technically Jasper at all. For simplicity, I'll refer to this stone as "Dragon's Blood Jasper" since it is the most well known trade name.
Dragon's Blood is mainly composed of a form of green and red epidote that includes large amounts of sorosilicate. Sorosilicate forms two silicate tetrahedrons in every molecule: four oxygen molecules surrounding one silicate molecule. This is an important fact.
Tetrahedrons are energetically powerful formations. They are associated with the element of fire and support the actions of empowerment and manifestation.
Tetrahedrons have long been associated with Dragons and they are believed to have identical frequencies / energies.
THIS is the key reason the stone is called Dragon’s Blood - NOT because of its colors.
This stone has been considered to be associated with Dragons for centuries, by traditional Crystal Healers, long before molecules were even known to exist! (I find this particularly interesting.)
As mentioned, the green color of this stone comes mainly from epidote, which is known as a stone of fulfillment and increase. This is because the frequency of epidote has a tendency to increase the size of the energy field of many other things; Dragon’s Blood Jasper also does this, as well.
This is an energetically intense stone that supports courage and is thought to impart strength, as it enhances emotional and spiritual growth. Those that are drawn to Dragon’s Blood are often being guided rather forcefully into spiritual awakening.
Dragon's Blood helps to cleanse the aura/energy field of trauma and repressed emotions, and helps with patience. It's an excellent stone for those wanting to work with anger issues and depression.
