This is a K2 Granite pocket/palm stone. Shown next to a US quarter coin for size comparison. K2 is mostly composed of Granite Gneiss (A medium- to high-grade metamorphic rock that commonly has a banded structure and is generally medium- to coarse-grained.) What makes it interesting is that it contains spherical, bright blue spots riddled all over. Named after the rock formation it is exclusively found on, the K2 Mountains of Pakistan. This is an extremely remote part of the world. Millions of years ago there was a now “erased” layer of copper-carbonate rich stratigraphic layer in that area. It was most likely "erased" due to weathering and erosion brought about by the glaciers that carved the K2 Mountains. That long gone layer left the only trace of its existence in the blue staining of the Granite below it. The stains are spherical concentrations of azurite, in granite, with biotite mica. This was determined by X-ray diffraction and microscopic observation. The main components of K2 are: Azurite, Granite (Feldspar Group) and Biotite - Mica group. Also trace amounts, at times, of Malachite. It was hard for scientists to agree on what caused the spherical blue spots and if they were real or clever fakes. It took detailed lab analysis to determine that the material is real, and not faked with food coloring or other dyes.
It weighs about 1.2oz and measures approx. 1 7/8" inches long X 1 5/8" inches wide at the widest point X about 1/4" inch thick. Code-711
K2 aka K2 Granite, Raindrop Azurite, K2 Jasper, Blue Berry Jasper - K2 is a calming energy that is said to help ease feelings of anxiety or fear and reduce negativity.
K2 is thought to help one to see the difference between belief and knowing; it supports introspection, without obsession and over thinking. It is said to assist with receiving guidance.
It is also used for being able to look at the flaws in a person, or a situation, realistically, with compassionate detachment. These traits make it an excellent stone for meditation and during divination.
It is a protective stone, as are all stones with a high feldspar content and is used for grounding.
In Crystal Healing, it is used to ease arthritis and joint pain as well as assist with disorders involving hair, head, and skin, as well as digestion, liver issues and depression.
