This is a vibrantly red natural Ferruginous Quartz crystal specimen. Shown next to a US quarter coin for size comparison. Ferruginous Quartz is a variety of Quartz with a high concentration of red Hematite inclusions. Sometimes also known as "Fire Quartz" as a trade name.
What I like most about this piece is that it has a bit of a "window" on one side, or perhaps a "yin/yang" type setup, where you can see a bit deeper into the stone. Delicate natural "etchings" are present on the facets, and the closer you look at this one the more interesting features you will discover. It's a nice size for incorporating into a crystal grid, or can be a beautiful display piece.
This is a natural specimen and as such there are a variety of physical textures present. ALL formations are 100% natural.
It weighs about 1.7oz and measures about 1 3/4" inches long by 1 1/4" inches wide by 1 1/8" inches tall. Code-3
Ferruginous Quartz is a variety of Quartz with a high concentration of red Hematite inclusions. Hematite is a must for anyone interested in working with crystals and stones. It is said to assist in grounding and calming and in manifesting Divine Light in your life.
It is a calming energy and is said to attract "kind" love and act as a stabilizing force.
Some forms deflect and dissolve negative energies, especially the crystals with gray, silver and black inclusions.
Hematite is said to help one to 'sort things out' and can be used for memory enhancement, original thinking and technical knowledge.
Hematite, especially in its natural crystalline form, is traditionally thought to bring peace, self-control and support an inner happiness.
In Crystal Healing, it is used to calm the nerves, for insomnia, to align the spine and speed the mending of broken bones. Some Indigenous healers have used it with blood disorders.
Hematite is associated with the Root Chakra.
Hematite that is found in quartz can be several colors, including grays, silvers, blacks, browns, reds, oranges or golds. It is a high iron content mineral.
Quartz with high Hematite saturation is sometimes also called Eisenkiesel (German for "iron pebble" pronounced "i-zen keezle")
Native legends speak of crystal skulls as an inheritance from ancient times. Said to “talk and sing” they are believed to carry messages for all mankind, including what may be discovered when we overcome our fear of death.
