This is a beautiful crystal skull carved from Quartz with a HIGH Lepidolite content mixed in, giving it a pretty sort of raspberry coloring. Shown next to a US quarter coin for size comparison. There are many shimmery and sparkly areas throughout that become visible here and there as you move the stone around under a bright light source. A beautiful piece! Lepidolite is sometimes called "Lavenderine" and is a member of the Mica family. It is rich in lithium which gives it a lavender, purple, or dark pink-ish purple tint. The name "Lepidolite" comes from the Greek word lepidos, meaning scale, because it normally appears "scaly" due to the way it can form in thin layers - pretty cool!
There are a few tiny organic spots here and there from inclusions that were close to the surface as the stone was polished. They can resemble tiny indents or fine lines on the surface of the crystal.
